Pokerstars $20k HORSE Tournaments Details
Every Sunday at 19:45 ET, Pokerstars runs a $20k guaranteed HORSE tournament. It has a direct buy-in amount of $200+15, but players can win seats via satellites for as little as $32. This is possibly the biggest weekly HORSE tournament online, offering good players a chance to make some decent money.
The Pokerstars Sunday $20k HORSE tournament usually generates around 120-140 players, with prize pools hitting $25-30k. The top prize is typically around $5500-5800.
Players start with 3000 chip starting stacks, and the blinds go up every 12 minutes. There are no rebuys or add-ons, but registration is open for one hour after the tournament begins.
If you aren’t familiar with HORSE, it’s a mixed game combining Hold’em, Omaha Hi/Lo, Razz, Stud, and Stud Eight or Better. Each game plays for 12 minutes, starting with Texas Hold’em. All of the games are played in fixed limit formats.
Pokerstars $20k HORSE Satellite Tournaments
Pokerstars offers $30+2 sit-n-go satellite tournaments where the winner receives a seat to the $20k HORSE event. The second place finisher gets $25. This is a single table sit-n-go with 1500 chip starting stacks and 10 minute blind levels. To find this satellite, open the $20k HORSE tournament window. You’ll see all of the available satellite tournaments listed there.
There is also a $36+3 turbo satellite tournament available where one player for every $215 in the prize pool wins a seat. Players begin with 2000 chips, and the blinds go up every 3 minutes (in small increments). This is a freezeout tournament, no rebuys or add-ons.
Lastly, there is a $55+1 hyper-turbo satellite available where players start with just 500 chips. The blinds start at 100/200 and go up every 3 minutes. With the tiny starting stack and fast blind levels, this tournament comes down to luck more than anything else. If you’re looking for a satellite that requires more skill and less luck, play in the $30+2 sit-n-go, or even the $36+3 turbo satellite. To be honest, I’ve never understood why people play in the hyper-turbos. If you have enough money to throw away $56, you probably have enough money to buy directly into the actual event for $215. Regardless of what I think, if you like these types of tournaments, they’re available.

The Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure is the second largest live tournament in the world, trailing only the Main Event for the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. The freeroll tournaments begin 20 minutes past the hour, 24 hours a day. You can play in one freeroll per day, at any time you like.
